The statue of the renowned classical music composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart at his birthplace. Pen and ink drawing on drawing paper.
Winter dresses up Berlin with a fluffy white coat. I loved this pic of taken by our Daughter-in-law Astha Prakash and wanted to give it a try with my drawing pens. Translating a picture with infinite dot density to a monochrome binary image (pen and ink drawing) is an interesting challenge. I used a combination of cross-hatching strokes and stippling dots (for the snow). I used Staedler 0.1 mm grey pen along with the other black pens. The grey pens were intended to give a soft look for the snow.

Irish castle. I drew this from a watercolour practice book my son bought for me. The book had detailed instruction on the colours to use and the sequence. It even had tracing sheets of the outline drawing, I did not use them. Good or bad, there is a thrill in doing the initial sketch myself. I drew it on a handmade paper that my niece bought for me.
The Old Mill of North Little Rock, Arkansas, USA. I chose to draw using graphite pencils to bring out the soft shadows.
The Stonehenge, UK. This is a heritage site and the birthplace of many theories on how they were formed. I was looking for a photograph which showed this monument at its best. This one caught my attention due to the angle of sunlight causing long shadows. I thought that an ink drawing would offer the best contrast and make it striking. I used a grey watercolour wash for the ground.
Giant Buddha statue at Leshan, China. It is so huge that the humans look like ants in front of it. I was fascinated when I saw this statue in the movie Abominable. This is a watercolour drawing.

Statue of Atlas at the Hermitage Museum, St. Petersburg, Russia. I drew this on an A3 drawing paper using graphite pencils.
